For
simplicity we operate just 3 grades of biking holiday:
Beginners, Intermediate or Advanced |
Beginners:
Fitness level: 1
Technical level: Easy
If you are interested in mountain
biking but have little or no experience off road then
this is for you.
Emphasis:
To teach you new skills which will improve confidence
for off road riding, whilst ensuring maximum fun. |
Intermediate:
Fitness level: 2
Technical level: Medium
You have some experience riding
off road but don't necessarily take it too seriously.
Emphasis:
Group cohesion. Experience challenging riding while helping
weaker members get to the top as well. |
Advanced:
Fitness level: 3
Technical level: Hard
You participate in races or relish
riding at a pace with few or no breaks.
Emphasis:
Fitness boost week. Learn how to train effectively whilst
getting in quality miles. Ideal pre-season sharpener. |
| When
you arrive we will tailor each days riding to the
level
of the group and take each person’s skills or fitness
into account. Its important to us to get the whole group
working together, but if necessary 2 groups can be formed. |
As
a rough guide the easier grades of holiday will have rides
requiring less technical ability and vice versa.
If you are concerned about your level of technical ability
then give us a call to and we can help you make the best
decision. |
| If
you wish to come out for some pre race season training
then we’d suggest you book on one of our advanced
training weeks. (book for min 6 people and we can tailor
this for you at any time) |
| Remember
though that this is just a guide. We want you to have
fun so we will explain each ride beforehand and make sure
each person is capable. |

| What
level of FITNESS am I? |
|

You exercise once a week or
have an active job. You are capable of cycling at
an easy pace for 1 hour on flat ground or similar. |
| |
|
Level

You exercise 2 or 3 times a
week but not necessarily cycling. Capable of riding
for 2-4 hours at a steady pace with occasional rest
stops.
Most of our trips are aimed here. |
 |
|
Level
3:
You’re actively involved
in cycling and ride at least 150 kilometres a week
(7-10 hrs / week). You’re capable of riding
4 hours or more at a steady pace without stopping.
|
|
| What
does TECHNICAL grade mean? |
|
Easy:
Riding a gravel path with loose
stones and occasional rocks on moderately flat ground.
(Picture shows Hannah demonstrating ‘easy’
technical grade) |
 |
|
| Medium:
Capable of riding over bumpy
ground, inc small tree roots, either downhill or uphill,
and often at a moderate pace. |

This would require the ability
to negotiate larger rocks, tree roots, steep decents
