At Ibex Adventures we
operate an eco-friendly holiday program. We have accepted
our responsibility to help look after the planet we
live in and respect nature.
Not
only do we have a social and environmental responsibility
but also we strive to minimise our impact to the planet
and help to preserve it in any way that we know how.
The
beautiful landscapes, varied wildlife, and local Spanish
people all play an important role in our holidays.
Its vital to us that we not only try to minimise our
impact but also play an active role in protecting
and preserving them.
This
isn't just about the business for us. We also live
our personal lives to an eco-lifestyle as much as
possible and try to encourage others to do the same.
Below
is an outline of the key practices that we embrace
Small
Groups
The maximum group size we ever have is ten. Smaller
groups mean less impact while also giving you more
enjoyment.
Respect
Local Cultures.
We want to give you an authentic experience of 'real'
Spanish people and culture. We can do this by using
smaller local suppliers or locally based people and
employ local guides who understand local communities
and surroundings.
We will also endeavour to respect the environment,
the traditions, way of life and cultural practices
of the local people.
Local
Products
Whenever possible we use local produce and
seek to use the local businesses helping to sustain
the local economy.
Work
with Local Conservation Groups
Much of the riding
we do is in National Parks and also working forests.
By coordinating with conservation groups we can ensure
that the trails we ride on will avoid any sensitive
areas whilst helping to maintain existing trails.
Recycle
We actively seek to recycle as much as possible. This
can be obvious things like paper and bottles or office
supplies, but also any other equipment we buy for
the business such as bicycles. Wherever possible we'll
re-use perfectly good parts as spares. It makes good
sense to spend more on quality equipment that is likely
to last much longer.
Paper
Free Office
We don't print glossy brochures. Instead we encourage
our customers to view the web site. As far as possible
bookings will be taken electronically and only ever
send written material through the post when absolutely
necessary.
Renewable
energy sources whenever possible
We seek to source renewable energy sources
whenever possible. When this is not practical we will
endeavour to use the energy suppliers which are the
most environmentally conscious.
Less
is More!
Its not all about recycling. Using less products in
the first place is much better than recycling. We
always try to ask ourselves if the product is absolutely
necessary.
Encourage
our clients to recycle
Encourage the reduction of water and energy
usage. Promote the use of systems for collecting,
recycling or safe disposal of litter encourage relevant
suggestions to minimise damage to the environment,
wildlife and marine ecosystems.
Constant
learning process
We all as tourists have a responsibility
for respecting and conserving a location's economic,
environmental, and socio-cultural balances.
Adopting
these practices makes a lot of sense. It helps to
keep our costs to a minimum, so we can pass savings
on to you. It also helps maintain the outstanding
beauty of this area so we can all appreciate it.
We
are constantly learning about how we can improve our
responsible tourism policy and reduce any negative
environmental effects. We actively encourage the input
of our guests.
